2 teens accused of shooting plot at Colorado school

DOVE CREEK, Colo. — Authorities say two teenagers arrested in New Mexico on suspicion of burglary and theft planned a shooting spree that was to have begun at a southwestern Colorado high school.

Dolores County Sheriff Jim Martin says a 16-year-old and 19-year-old Cody Barr had planned to kill the principal of Dove Creek High School before shooting Martin and his undersheriff and using their weapons to continue shooting.

In New Mexico, San Juan County Undersheriff Mark McCloskey told the The Daily Times of Farmington that the Dove Creek teens were arrested Monday in a trailer east of Bloomfield.

Martin says three weapons were recovered in New Mexico and seven rifles were recovered from the Dove Creek home of the younger suspect.
