HILHAM, Tenn. —
Nettie Marie Ellis, 85, of Hilham, Tenn., passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.
She was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Overton County, Tenn., to the late Rancy and Martha (Hawkins) Garrett. She raised her family in Anderson, Ind., before retiring to her home in Hilham, Tenn., in 1981. She loved flower gardening, crocheting, traveling, and being with her children, grandchildren, and family.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura Phelps (Dave) and Linda Brandt (Bill); five sons, Stephen Ellis (Ursula), John Ellis (Joe), Thomas Ellis (Terrill), Michael Ellis and Ronald Dean Ellis (Michelle); a sister, Inell Swinford of Chesterfield, Ind.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis K. Ellis; son, Donald Lee Ellis; two sisters, Gladys Lynn and Vesta Bilyeu; and a brother, Cortell Garrett.
Her sons will serve as pallbearers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. Officiating will be Brother David Stockton. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in Jackson County, Tenn.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
