GASTON, Ind. —
Doris E. Etchison, 98, formerly of Gaston, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Doris was born June 26, 1914, in Madison County, to Oral and Goldie (Goodman) Johnson.
She was a graduate of Gaston High School, Class of 1931, and Indiana Business College.
She spent her summers at the lakes and wintered in Florida for 25 years.
She worked for Haag Drugs in the Northway Plaza and helped with the family farm in Gaston.
Survivors include her son, Marvin Etchison (wife, Janellyn) of Muncie; and her two daughters, Juanita Cook (husband, Charles) and Eloise Hitchens (husband, Bob), all of Muncie; a niece, Anita Achtermann of Iowa; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Etchison; and brother, Kermit Johnson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday the Gant Funeral Home, Gaston Chapel. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to Wednesday service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of Donor’s choice.
