Treatha Fortson

Oct. 10, 1926 - March 18, 2013

ANDERSON, Ind. — On March 18, 2013, Treatha Fortson was called from this home to her heavenly home in Glory.

Treatha Fortson was born on Oct. 10, 1926, in Gholson, Miss., to George and Lillian (McClain) Jenkins. She moved to Texas and worked as a domestic engineer for two different families. She relocated to Indiana and worked for Anderson Fur Co. for several years. Treatha was a devoted member at New Hope United Methodist Church and ministered as a Communion Steward and in the hospitality ministry. She enjoyed her family, gardening, baking, and having a good time.

Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Margaret Jenkins Teague of Dallas, Texas, and Essie Fortson and spouse James of Anderson; her only son, Ernest Aaron Fortson II and love DezaRae Hendrick of Gig Harbor, Wash.; grandchildren, Micheal and fiancé Kaniesha Gilliard of Houston, Texas, Karen (Tal) Fisher of Allen, Texas, Ernest Aaron Fortson III of Scotland, JaeShaun Jordan and spouse Kevin Jordan of Anderson, and Grace Anne Fortson of Gig Harbor, Wash.; great-grandchildren, JaCorey Teague and Marcus Felix of Houston, Texas, Kedrian and Jayden Fisher of Allen, Texas, Sylus Reese and Kenia Jordan of Anderson, and Ethan Fortson of Scotland; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Treatha Fortson was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Jenkins; siblings, Thomas Jenkins, Verna (Jenkins) Clemmons, Ethel Jenkins, Buddy Jenkins, Georgia (Jenkins) Rush and Douglas Jenkins.

Services will be held at noon Saturday at New Hope United Methodist Church, 1503 Rev. J.T. Menifee St., Anderson, with the Rev. Dr. Edgar Woodall officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Walk Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.

Services entrusted to Galzebrooks Funeral Services.
