MARKLEVILLE —
George Dewey Neff Jr., age 87, formerly of Markleville, died Feb. 2, 2012, at Rawlins House in Pendleton after a brief illness.
He was born June 30, 1924, in Anderson to George D. and Mary (Antrim) Neff Sr.
He was a graduate of Markleville High School, class of 1943.
For 20 years, George was employed as a salesman at a hardware store in New York.
He retired from the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Order of the Eastern Star; past master of Masonic Lodge in East Hampton, N.Y.; and member of Chapter of Royal Arch.
Survivors include his brother, Richard Neff Sr., of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews, including Richard (Monica) Neff Jr., Elizabeth Neff, Susan (Lance) Crosby, Penny Jo Neff, Dennis Neff and Connie Hislip; and great- nieces and great-nephews, Justin Neff, Tabitha Neff, Mitchell Neff, Ricky Neff, Stacey McCullough Shayla Crosby and Amanda Chambers.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Amadin) Neff, whom he married in Long Island, N.Y., in 1954, and who died in 2003; and his brother, Bill Neff.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, officiated by Pastor Ned Clark.
Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
