PERU, Ind. —
Earl “The Pearl” Ooten, 79, died March 6, 2013, as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.
He was born May 12, 1933, in Bow, Ky., the son of Camel and Belle Ooten.
He worked for Charlie Bolton for 15 years, as a car detailer and driver. Earl would say, “I only had 15 wrecks, that’s pretty good, Ha! Ha!” He loved to collect hub caps. Earl beat colon cancer twice. He was loved by all those he met, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his brother, Rusty Ooten of Peru, Ind.; brother-in-law, Bill Brewster of Edmonton, Ky.; nieces, Patty (Bob) Dodson of Anderson, Ind., Sue Froedge of Edmonton, Ky., Sandy Riley of Anderson, Ind., Micki (Danny) Key of Pendleton, Ind., Angie McCoy (Chris) of Edmonton, Ky., Wendy (Jim) Alumbaugh of Anderson, Ind., Paul Holman of Glasgow, Ky., and Wanda Alexander of Colorado; nephews, Roger (Nancy) Brewster of Jacksonville, Fla., Dewayne (Tracie) Taylor of Glasgow, Ky., Jeremy Dodson of Anderson and Ervie Melton of Glasgow, Ky.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and special friends, Charlie Bolton, Henry Shell and Mary Ann and Denny Guss.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ervin Ooten and Floyd ‘Whitey” Ooten; sisters, Lillie Gilbert and Edith Brewster; niece, Margie Highfill, and sisters-in-law, Katie Ooten and Maxine Ooten.
Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru, Ind., with funeral services immediately following at 7 p.m.
Earl will be laid to rest (under his Chevy Bowtie), at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Everrest Cemetery in Logansport, Ind.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
