Irene B. Stevens

Nov. 17, 1926 — Feb. 11, 2012

ANDERSON, Ind. — Irene B. “Bea” Stevens, 85, of Anderson, passed away Feb. 11, 2012, at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Anderson, the daughter of the late Earl and Ethel (Green) Shaw.

She was a lifelong resident of Anderson and retired from Countryside Manor in 2005 as an activities director. Bea was a member of Central Wesleyan Church and attended Eastview Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Fred and Carolyn Stevens of Anderson, Jay and Kathy Stevens of Haverhill, Mass., Joe and Pam Shaw of Anderson; ten grandchildren, Freddie (Trisha) Stevens, Crissy (Larry) Quinn, Sammie Sparks, Jay Jay (Sara) Stevens, Jeremy Stevens, Jared (Laura) Stevens, Joey Shaw, Jason Shaw, J.T. (Jamie) Shaw and Josh Stevens; great-grandchildren, Garrison, Brayden, David, Katelyn, Xavier, Maria, Adrian, Bella, Kayla, Conner, Cameron and a baby girl on the way; several nieces and nephews, whom she helped raise, Donnie (Joyce) Shaw, Judy (John) Cox, Sharon Hogue, Patsy (Bill) Cox, Mike (Linda) Shaw, David Shaw, Cindy (Ron) Davis, Janie Coy and  Jackie Brown; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Bea’s caregivers, Joe, Pam, Dr. Eddy, Dr. Robinson, Dr. Kopp and St. John’s Hospice for all their care and concerns.

In addition to her parents, Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Jay F. Stevens; four brothers, Frank Shaw, Gene Shaw, Harold Shaw and William Shaw; sister, Pearl Louise McClain; granddaughter-in-law, Dionne Stevens; and niece, Carol June Shaw.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastview Church of the Nazarene, 2552 E. 200 South, Anderson, officiated by Pastor Thomas Chapman. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, and one hour prior to the Tuesday service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eastview Church of the Nazarene.
