ANDERSON, Ind. —
Elizabeth Lavon (Ball) Hopkins, 78, of Anderson, died Feb. 9, 2012, at Saint John’s Medical Center after an extended illness.
Elizabeth was born in Summitville on Sept. 4, 1933, to Julius and Audrey (Derstler) Ball, and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1951.
She worked with her husband at Ray Hopkins Photography for 30 years and was a salesperson for Stanley Thomas Acoustic Audio for seven years.
She attended Madison Park Church of God and was the former president of “Remember the Men of Vietnam.” She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching game shows. She liked to spend time shopping with her friend, Shirley.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Kay Duckworth; five grandchildren, Tommy (Jill) Fanning, Casey (Mark) Hughes, Jason (Leah) Fleetwood, Brandy Werner and Megan (Travis) Smith; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Evelyn L. Walpole; very special friend, Shirley Lewis; friends, Thomas Fanning and Mike and Sandy Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pastor Ray Hopkins; her son, Charles “Chuck” Werner; son-in-law, David Duckworth; and her brother, Carroll Ball.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Mike Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
