Rubion “Tom” Isbell

July 12, 1938 - March 15, 2013

ANDERSON, Ind. — Rubion “Tom” Isbell, 74, of Anderson, passed away March 15, 2013 at Community Hospital.

He was born July 12, 1938, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. and lived most of his life in the Madison County area. He retired from Local 662 Union Hall after more than 25 years and loved riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shelby J. Isbell of Anderson; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Isbell and Scott Silvey of Anderson; stepmother, Phyllis Isbell of Alexandria; grandchildren, Jamadee (husband, Matt) Shroyer of Sweetser, Ind. and Kiley (husband, Callen) Walters of Westfield; great grandchildren, Katie Shroyer, Bella Shroyer, Thomas Shroyer and Ashlynn Walters; brother, Ed (wife, Sandi) Isbell of Alexandria; sisters, Louise (husband, George) Wilson of Au Gres, Mich., Shirley Underwood, Lula Lee and Peggy (husband, Tom) Arndt, all of Elkhart, Phyllis (husband, Doug) Applegate of Greenfield, and Becky (husband, Terry) Six of Elwood; sisters-in-law, Betty (husband, Butch) Land and Barbara (husband, Dick) Withers, all of Anderson and Pat (husband, (Tom) Benak; many special friends including, John and Harold Simpson; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his loving dog, “Charlie Thomas”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Ellen (Phillips) Isbell; son, Rubion Thomas Isbell, Jr.; brother, Thomas H. Isbell; sister, Betty Tucker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willis and Gladys Qualls; and sister-in-law, Janice McDole.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Kent Stookey officiating.  Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
