ANDERSON, Ind. —
Willard A. “Bill” Christman, 74, of Anderson, died unexpectedly on Nov. 24, 2012, at his winter residence in Sarasota, Fla.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a graduate of Anderson High School, Class of 1956; received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and a Master of Science from Ball State University.
He was employed as an engineer at Delco Remy, in Plant 1 Processing Department, for over 30 years, then he was a consultant with EDS and then was an International Executive Consultant with IBM.
He was a man on a mission for Christ with discipling. He helped The Christian Center, many churches and leaders as a coach and mentor, especially his son’s churches in Muncie and then in Los Angeles, Calif., at USC.
He was a member of the Corvette Club, Optimist Club, YMCA, Dolphin Club, SCORE, Mayflower Society, and Madison Park Church of God men’s and small groups. He loved being with our boys in Indian Guides. He also loved snow skiing, swimming and working out.
His survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sandy L. Christman of Anderson whom he married on March 26, 1966 in Anderson; 2 sons, Brian J. (wife, Kathy) Christman of Zionsville, IN and Gregory E. (wife, Julie) Christman of Los Angeles, CA; 3 grandsons, Brian J. Christman II, Matthew L. Christman, and Cana W.B. Christman; 2 sisters-in-law, Anita J. Glaze of Champaign, IL and Barbara Glaze and sons, Aaron, Ryan, and David Glaze all of Indianapolis, many cousins, and special friends in Anderson and Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard L. and Clara Christman; mother-in-law, Alice (husband, Walter) Spangler; and father-in-law, Gene (wife, Ginny) Glaze.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 1 p.m., at Madison Park Church of God Crossroads Auditorium with the Rev. Jim Lyon and Pastor Ed Carey officiating. A celebration of life will immediately follow the service.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charities in which he was actively involved, YMCA of Anderson, Church of God Missions in Russia or Bulgaria, and Bicycle Bread (bicyclebread.com)
