Robert C. ‘Bob’ Birkinbine

INDIANAPOLIS — Robert C. “Bob” Birkinbine, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away Aug. 31, 2010 at Castleton-Millers Senior Living Community after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Logansport, the son of W. Otto and Emily (Peel) Birkinbine. He graduated from Frankton High School in 1939 and resided in Anderson. He retired from Best Ever Dairy.

Bob was a member of First Baptist Church and a charter member of Highland Baptist Church. He was a kind, gentle and generous man who will be missed.

He is survived by two daughters, Anita (Zachary) Johnson of Kapolei, Hawaii, and Karen (David) McCord of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Scott (Debra) McCord of Greenfield, Mary (Glen) Castor of Noblesville, Brian (Padma) McCord of Katy, Texas, Ross McCord of St. Louis, Mo., and Susan (Chris) Johnson, Tim (Lianne) Johnson and Peter Johnson, all of Kapolei, Hawaii; eight great-grandchildren, Allison, Connor, Lindsey, Jeevan and Savannah McCord, Evan Castor and Tanner and Rebecca Johnson; sisters-in-law, Ellen Birkinbine of Alexandria and Doris Birkinbine of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Birkinbine; and brothers, Lloyd and Curtis Eldon Birkinbine.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Britton officiating. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
