George L. Yust

INDIANAPOLIS — George L. Yust passed away on Sept. 1, 2010, in Indianapolis at the age of 79.

George was born at Mercy Hospital in Elwood, in June of 1931 and was the son of George H. Yust and Mary (Lovkin) Yust. He grew up in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School in May of 1950. He and Carla were married in September of 1950. He served four years in the Naval Reserve and worked at Delco Remy for 32 years as a skilled tradesman. After leaving Delco Remy, he owned a laundry and dry cleaning business in Muncie for 27 years. Over the years George and Carla enjoyed raising their children and supporting them in a variety of activities involving athletics and music. They frequently went on camping and fishing trips and supported the high school basketball teams at Highland High School in Anderson where their sons played basketball in the late 1960s and early 1970s. After the children were grown, George and Carla dedicated themselves to spending as much time as possible with them and providing them with fun and memorable experiences. Of particular note were the fireworks displays on the Fourth of July.

He is survived by his wife, Carla (Monroe) Yust of Indianapolis; three sons, Allan and Randy of Fishers, and Greg of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jacquelyn Williams of Houston, Texas, and Imogene Taylor of Danville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Gallamore; and a brother, James O. Yust.

The family request that no flowers be sent and that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or at http://www.alz.org.
