Leonard ‘Sam’ Cook

Nov. 8, 1933 - Dec. 7, 2012

ARGOS, Ind. — Leonard “Sam” Cook, 79, of 14649 Juniper Road, Argos, Ind., passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 3:08 p.m., at Community Hospital of Bremen, in Bremen, Ind.

Leonard was born on Nov. 8, 1933, in Hazard County, Ky., to Estell and Ada (White) Cook. The former Barbara Fritter and Leonard Cook were united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1978, in Anderson.

Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Leonard owned and operated Cook’s Super Markets in Anderson. They later moved to Port Saint Lucie, Fla., where he and Barbara owned and operated Dan’s Fans City. In November of 2004, Leonard and Barbara moved to Argos.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara Cook; his children, Randy (Mandy) Cook of Anderson and Pamela (Jay) Evans of Tennessee; Barbara’s children, Robin Dollar of Texas, Todd Tullis of Anderson, and Tara (Paul) Fouriner of Vermont; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Bertha Fouche of Las Vegas, Nev.; his brothers, Kenny (Wanda) Cook of Illinois and Glenden (Evelyn) Cook of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie and Virginia.

The family would like to thank Dylan for the special care and concern given to Leonard throughout his illness.

In lieu of flowers, Leonard’s family has established an educational account for Dylan, so he can continue his education in health care. For those who wish to contribute $25 or more, please make a check payable to:
