ANDERSON, Ind. —
David R. Ramsey, 89, of Anderson, passed away Nov. 14, 2012, at Meadowbrooke Rehab Center and Suites. He was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Indianapolis and resided most of his life in Anderson.
David graduated from Tech High School and Butler University.
He was a veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a retired teacher for Anderson Community Schools; teaching for 39 years. He was also a private piano and organ teacher for many years. He played the organ for First United Methodist Church for 35 years and for St. Matthew United Methodist Church for 15 years.
He loved traveling, classical music and square dancing; and was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
David is survived by his loving spouse, whom he married Aug. 17, 1946, Doris (Geer) Ramsey; children, Cynthia Suetterlin, Dwight (Necia) Ramsey, Janine (Gary) McKinney, Gregg Ramsey, Mark Ramsey and Michele (Rodney) Schadler; sister, Carol Wulf; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four nephews; and a niece.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Nelle and Alfred Ira Ramsey; and sister, Lora Benson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 1512 N. Madison Ave., Anderson.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the church with Pastor Mark Helm officiating. Burial will take place at The Gardens at Willowcrest Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
