Hilda V. Atteberry


Nov. 29, 1917 - March 14, 2010

FRANKLIN — Hilda (Eckhardt) Atteberry, 92, Franklin, died March 14, 2010, at Franklin United Methodist Community after a four-month illness.

She was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Anderson, the daughter of Kenneth and Addie (Kilmer) Eckhardt, and resided in Anderson until moving to Franklin 12 years ago.

She was a secretary for the City of Anderson for several years. She also was employed in the purchasing department of Delco Remy and worked for several years at the Dorothy Blevins Dress Shoppe.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Anderson and after her move to Franklin was associated with the Grace United Methodist Church. She was a member of Anderson Women’s Club.

Survivors include three grandsons, Phillip (wife, Mary) Atteberry and Austin Atteberry, all of the Chicago area, and Chris Atteberry of Nashville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Mary Amelia; two nieces; a former daughter-in-law, Nancy Clifford of Chicago; and cousins, Frank and Jerry Atteberry of Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar L. Atteberry, on May 17, 2008; her son, Phillip, in 2002; a sister, Doris Cheshire; and her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Mathys officiating.
