BRAZIL — Dennis James Hardy, 49, of Brazil, died unexpectedly March 11, 2010, at his residence.



He was born Nov. 4, 1960, in New Castle, the son of James O. and Lorene (Criswell) Hardy. He graduated from Highland High School, Anderson, with the class of 1979. He joined the United States Air Force in 1981 and was honorably discharged in 1985.



Dennis moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked as a commercial electrician. Later he moved to Indianapolis and worked for Lieper Electric. He moved to Clay City in the mid-’90s, where he met Charlene Freeman. He and Charlene spent the last 14 years together.



Dennis enjoyed woodworking and was able to fix anything electronic. He will be remembered as a wonderful cook. He also enjoyed spending time on the computer.



He is survived by his life companion, Charlene Freeman of Staunton; mother, Lorene Hurt of Dallas, Texas; stepfather, Garmon Earl Hurt of Brazil; daughter, Sara Lorene Hardy of California; brother, Alan Blake Hurt of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Martha Suzanne “Suzi” Hall and husband Jack Binford Hall of Dallas, Texas.



He is preceded in death by his father, James Hardy; and a sister, Betsy Lee Hardy.



At his request, cremation services were scheduled. A memorial service will take place at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, 2168 W. Ind. 340, Brazil, Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m., with Stoney Lalen officiating. To light a candle in his memory, visit www.frenchfuneralhome.com.
