MARKLEVILLE — Shirley S. Wright, 67, died Nov. 21, 2008, at St. John’s Medical Center, as the result of a sudden illness.



She was born Jan. 25, 1941, in East Prairie, Mo., and resided in this area most of her life.



Shirley was a former employee of Church of God Ministries/CBH for 25 years, retiring in 2001.



She was a member of the Church of God community; Red Hat Society; American Legion Post 127 and Bible study. She was a wonderful wife to her husband, Donald G. Wright. Memories of her as a grandmother include teaching cooking, driving and crafts and many hours of games. Some of her interests were adopting Anderson University students, foster parenting to several children and being involved as a Scouts den mother. She loved learning to play the organ and also loved to bake cakes and cater events.



Survivors include her husband, Donald G. Wright of Markleville; children, John (Connie) Kinley of Anderson, Sue Kinley and special friend Ann Thatcher of Peru, Ind., and Spencer (Leslie) Kinley of Anderson; step-son, Bryan Wright of Anderson; brothers, Earl (Patti) Reed of Anderson and Nolan (Judy) Reed of Phoenix, Ariz.; aunt, Ellen Pate of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Michael, Jordan and Jeremy Kinley, Amanda Moon and Ken (Kila) Cook, all of Anderson; great-grandchildren, Kevin and Melissa Moon; and several nieces and nephews.



Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. W.E. and Naomi Rue (McAdoo) Reed; brother, Merle Reed; and step-son, Kevin Wright



Services 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Dewayne Repass. Cremation was chosen.



Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
