SANDY VALLEY, Nev. — Donald “Don” Dean Brown, 68, passed away Oct. 24, 2009, after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 13, 1941, in Anderson, Ind., the son of Thomas and Delore Brown. He retired as master sergeant after serving 20 years (October 1966-October 1986) in the United States Army. He was a Vietnam veteran, and also completed tours of duty in Korea and Germany.
After serving his country he was a prison guard for five years at the Pioche Conservation Camp in Pioche, Nev.
Survivors include his wife of six years, Kathy Brown of Sandy Valley, Nev.; son, Donald D. (wife, Rita) Brown of Pioneer, Ohio; daughter, Terri L. Brown-May of Gaston; son, Tony Brown of Santa Fe, N.M.; son, Brian (wife, Michelle) Brown of Newburgh, Ind.; daughter, Dion Brown of Nevada; brother, Stephen (wife, Linda) Brown of Pendleton, Ind.; twin brother, Ronald Brown of Anderson, Ind.; brother, Dr. David Brown of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; four stepchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tri-County Christian Church in Middletown.
Family and friends may call one hour prior to services at the church, 8660 N. Mechanicsburg Road, Middletown, Ind.
