ANDERSON — Charles F. Manuel, 71, Anderson, passed away Dec. 26, 2009, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Sullivan County, and resided in Anderson most of his life. Charles retired from Emge Meat Packing after 28 years of service.
He was a member of the Pigeon Club.
He is survived by his wife whom he married July 25, 1981, Rita (Stogdill) Manuel; three children, Brian Purdy, Scott Purdy and Mathew Manuel, all of Anderson; sister, Peggy Booth of Ohio; brothers, Wayne Manuel, Earl Manuel and Jake Manuel, all of Dugger; two grandchildren, Zachary Purdy and Nicholas Purdy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pansy (Critchfield) Manuel; and sisters, Mary Blevens and Joan Smith.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with the Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the South Chapel.
