ANDERSON — Scott James Rhea, 19, Anderson, died unexpectedly March 29, 2010.
He was born Nov. 6, 1990, in Anderson, the son of James A. Rhea and Rhonda (Sayre) Mattox. Scott grew up in Orestes and resided in the Anderson area for most of his lifetime.
He attended Highland High School and earned his Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification from the Arcadia Developmental Center while an employee there. He attended Elm Grove Christian Church where he recently gave his heart to the Lord. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing his guitar. “I have a strong desire to use my knowledge and my passion to work for others.” Scott will be fondly remembered for his loving and giving heart of gold.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Rhonda and Mark Mattox of Alexandria; father, James A. Rhea of Anderson; sister, Chelsea M. Rhea of Alexandria; brother, Eric Kleiman of Arcadia; stepbrothers and sisters, April, Amy and Andrew Mattox of Marion,
Jerry (Kaylee) Strunk of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Chase Strunk of Anderson; maternal grandparents, Beverly (Wallace) Cowart of Alexandria; paternal grandparents, Robert (Wanda) Rhea of Anderson; maternal aunts and uncles, Robert (Deneen) Sayre and Randy (Karen) Sayre, all of Alexandria, and Renee (Randy) Sizelove of Summitville; paternal aunts and uncles, Vicki Higgenbottom of Anderson, Deborah (David) Shelley of New Castle, Cathy (Randy) McCune and Pam (Rip) Denman, all of Anderson, and Becky Rhea (Mike Henry) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; special friends, Rhonda (Terry) Calandrelli, Shaun Shepard, Eric Calandrelli, Steve and Tammy Lewis; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jimmy J. Sayre; cousin, Courtney Sizelove; and several great-grandparents
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Mike Whiteman of Elm Grove Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery near Yorktown.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Angel Fund of the Arcadia Developmental Center through the funeral home.
