Wayne Wheeler Sandlin, 54, of Anderson, died Jan. 4, 2009, at Community Hospital Anderson, after a brief illness.
He served seven years in the U.S. Army. He worked as a corrections officer for the past 23 years, 18 at the Correctional Industrial Facility in Pendleton.
Survivors include his parents, Charles and Bernell Sandlin; sister, Ann and husband Jeff Brandon; a nephew and niece ; uncle and aunt; and other extended family and friends.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Chesterfield Community Church of God, 123 Linden Lane, Chesterfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Community Church of God.
Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, handled the funeral arrangements.

- Area roundup: Shenandoah beats Lapel volleyball The Raiders rallied from one game down to win in four games over the Bulldogs. Yardley Collett paced the winners with 22 kills, 20 assists, four aces and three blocks. Teammate Kirstyn Pierce had 12 kills, five aces and nine digs.
