ANDERSON — Tickets go on sale Thursday for performances by the Oak Ridge Boys on Aug. 15 and the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, on Sept. 20.
Both will perform at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino.
Tickets will be available for purchase from Shelby’s Gifts, located on the Terrace Level at Hoosier Park.
The Oak Ridge Boys will perform their brand of country-western in two shows in the Terrace Showroom at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $42.50 each.
Franklin’s show will be at 8 p.m. on Sept. 20. She will perform in “The Yard,” located outdoors between the casino and the racetrack at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino. Live thoroughbred racing will move to an afternoon matinee program that day to accommodate the concert.
Tickets for Franklin’s show are $55 for standard seats and $70 for Golden Circle seating
A 20-percent discount will be offered to all Club Centaur Rewards members for both concerts.
Membership into Club Centaur is free and can be obtained at one of the two locations for Club Centaur at both the main entrance to the casino and the main entrance to the racetrack on the Terrace Level.
Best known for their No. 1 hit single “Elvira,” the Oak Ridge Boys have dozens of top 10 country hits. Other top hits from The Oak Ridge Boys include “Bobbie Sue,” “Dream On,” “Thank God For Kids” and “American Made.” The quartet includes lead singer Duane Allen, bass singer Richard Sterban, tenor Joe Bonsall and baritone William Lee Golden. The group dates back to the mid 1940s with the current lineup of members assembled in the mid 1970s.
Franklin was the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. The native of Memphis, Tenn., has had more top 40 singles since 1961 than any other female vocalist. Some of her best known hits include Respect,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “Freeway of Love.” Franklin has had 17 top-10 singles and has won 20 Grammy Awards making her the second most honored female singer in Grammy history.
