MUNCIE — An artist who works in beads and jewelry will be featured through the month of October at ArtWorks Gallery in Muncie.

“Lisa Atchison: Turning Over a New Leaf” showcases handmade beads and artistic jewelry.

Atchison — not long after discovering handmade beads and artistic jewelry — entered the world of lampworking in 2003 and never looked back.

With nature as her inspiration, she strives for an ethereal and organic, yet soft elegant style in her handmade glass beads. This is accomplished by using soft flowing colors, cubic zirconia, fine silver, copper, hand pulled cane and handmade murrini glass.

She often employs a secondary process of copper electroforming, using leaves from her yard.

Atchison has studied lampworking with some of the finest instructors including Kate Fowle Meleny, Larry Scott, Michael Barley and others.

She has recently started teaching lampwork and electroforming in Indianapolis where she works for an engineering firm.

She is an active member of the Indiana Society of Lampwork and Art Glass Artists, the International Society of Lampwork and the Indiana Bead Society.
