The Herald Bulletin

ANDERSON — The Gospel Highlight Radio Broadcast 27th annual Community Thanksgiving Day dinner will be held at the Geater Center, 1611 Chase St., from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 26.

The event is in memory of the late Booker Alexander, founder; Charles Gardner and the Rev. Levert Braxton, of the now retired Heavenly Five Gospel Singers.

A full-course meal will be served, including dessert and beverage. Any person who is sick or a shut-in and would like dinner delivered on Thanksgiving Day is asked to call Lester Harris at 649-1503, Winston Lovelace, at 610-5343, or Arnetta Wilkins, at the Geater Center, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., 648-6858.

Deliveries begin at 10:30 a.m. Dinners will be delivered throughout the day, so organizers ask that recipients be patient. It is requested that shut-in people call every year to have their name placed on the delivery order list. No delivery orders will be accepted after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Volunteers (ages 16 and up) are needed. Those who can help can call James L. Warner at 643-6257. Those volunteers who agree to deliver dinners should be at the center by 10 a.m. Those who want to eat dinner may call the Rev. Prince at 644-2992 to be picked up and dropped off.

Several area agencies including Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, New Hope and Peerless Lodge are helping doing the preparations for the dinner. These agencies are full-staffed at this time; however, Anderson Zion Baptist Church, 2008 Rev. J.T. Menifee St., is looking for volunteers in getting things prepared on Monday, Nov. 23, at 7 a.m.

On Thanksgiving Day, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., News Talk Radio, 1240 WHBU will broadcast live. Requests or dedication can be made by calling 648-6868.
