Alexandria plans parade, festival

ALEXANDRIA — The city’s Small Town Christmas Parade will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday; the Alexandria Community Band plus Joshua’s Vision singing group will perform for spectators, who may watch from assembled bleachers along Harrison Street.

Chili soup will be available at the Alexandria Historical Society on Harrison Street. Woody Wright and Stephan Hill will be performing at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 116 W. Broadway St. Tickets are $5.

Holiday tour features four historic homes

ANDERSON — Portions of four historic homes, decorated for the holidays, will be open for tours, hosted by Soroptimist International of Anderson, Anderson Downtown Neighbors Association and the Historic West Eighth Street Association.

The Holiday Historic Home Tour will feature 219 W. 11th St., 414 W. Eighth St., 816 W. Eighth St. and 926 W. Eighth St. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10, available at Moneyhun’s.



Queen candidate serving enchiladas

FRANKTON — American Legion Auxiliary member and sweetheart queen candidate Michele Becker will serve chicken enchiladas beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Frankton American Legion Post, 116 N. Washington St. Cost is two for $5.



Garden Club pitch-in set for Dec. 7

ALEXANDRIA — SmallTown Garden Club will have its annual Christmas pitch-in dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Alexandria Community Center, 315 S. Harrison St. The club will furnish the meat; members are asked to bring a salad or vegetable or dessert to share.

Minnetrista hosts Enchanted Walk

MUNCIE — Enchanted Luminaria Walk at Minnetrista will take place Dec. 4 and 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Luminaries, holiday decorations and music, carriage rides and free exhibits are planned. There will also be holiday shopping featuring works by local artists, specialty foods and educational toys.

Other activities will include ornament making, gingerbread cookie bars, a snow fort on the Greensward and performances by Minnetrista Theatre Preserves. For more information about Luminaria, call 282-4848 or visit www.minnetrista.net.



Tuesday is World AIDS Day

ANDERSON — A World AIDS Day community prayer service will be held at noon Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church Annex, 11th and Fletcher streets. Clark Butler, director of the Human Rights Institute at Purdue University-Fort Wayne, will be the presenter. A section of the National AIDS Quilt will be on display.

ANDERSON — Southside Automotive Service & Sales, 1335 W. 53rd St., is an official Toys for Tots drop-off location. Bring in a new, unwrapped toy and receive a coupon for $5 off on an oil change.
