MOB registration is this Wednesday

ANDERSON — Merchants Older Buddies registration will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Parks Department, 101 E. Oak St., located on the first street north of the Shadyside Park entrance off Broadway.

The registration card offers discounts to those 60 years of age and older at various area merchants. The cost is $4. For more information, call Haskell Counts at 643-8843.



Santa Breakfast to be held on Dec. 19

ANDERSON — A breakfast with Santa will be Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Sherman Street Church of God annex, 1820 Sherman St. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and the first 100 children will receive a Christmas candy bag.

Children age 12 and under are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Applications can be picked up at Prime Time Cafe Youth Center, New Covenant Ministries and Sherman Street Church of God or send an e-mail to ptc604@yahoo.com with the following information: child’s name, age, and gender. Deadline is Monday, Dec. 14.

DAV Chapter 12 dinner Dec. 10

ANDERSON — Chapter 12 of the Disabled American Veterans will have its annual Christmas dinner at 4 p.m. Thursday at Ryan’s Family Steakhouse, 6315 Scatterfield Road. All DAV Chapter 12 members, their families and invited guest are welcome with a special invitation to the younger DAV members.

‘tweens’ for club

ALEXANDRIA — The children’s department at the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library will have a “Tweens Club” from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday for those ages 8-12.

meets for breakfast

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria-Monroe Class of 1963 will meet for breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe at 9 a.m. Tuesday. All classmates are encouraged to attend these informal get-togethers.

Breakfast with Santa set for Saturday

ANDERSON — Special Olympics of Madison County will sponsor a Breakfast with Santa at Applebee’s 1922 E. 53rd St., from 8 to 9 a.m. and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Each child will receive a goody bag, breakfast and a photo with Santa.

Tickets are by advance purchase only and can be purchased from Special Olympics of Madison County by calling 641-4489. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under; those under the age of 2 eat free.

All proceeds benefit Special Olympics of Madison County.



‘Color Purple’

tickets on sale

INDIANAPOLIS — Tickets are on sale for the musical, “The Color Purple,” set to run Dec. 29 to Jan. 3 at Clowes Memorial Hall in Indianapolis.

Demond Grant loads items into a truck that were dropped off at the Paramount Saturday. The Disposal Alternatives Organization was picking up the items. The DAO will inventory and scrap the items with some of the proceeds coming back to benefit the Paramount.
