ANDERSON, Ind. — Angel Food menus change, more food

ANDERSON — Angel Food menus have changed, and there is more food in each of the menu boxes. The main menu box is now $31, but they have also added a Bit O’ Blessing box for $21, and a larger menu box for $41.  Visit the website www.ppchog.org/ministries/angelfoodministry for items in the current boxes.

Place orders for September at Park Place Church of God, 501 College Drive, through 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at the church office or order online at www.angelfoodministries.com/hosts.asp, through 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19. Orders will be distributed from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the Fellowship Hall.

Church rummage set for Saturday

PENDLETON — The Old Country Full Gospel Church will have a rummage sale starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at Falls Park Plaza by the gazebo. In case of rain, the sale will be held inside of Suite 116 at Falls Park Plaza.



Adams addresses Noon Exchange Club

ANDERSON —  Jeremy Adams of At Home Assisted Living will speak at the Anderson Noon Exchange Club meeting from 11:40 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Days Inn.

The Noon Exchange Club welcomes guests to attend club meetings and explore membership opportunities. A lunch buffet is included at $10 per person. First-time guests are encouraged to attend at no charge.

Fall Festival planned for Sunday

ANDERSON — St. Mary’s School, 321 E. 11th St., will host its annual Fall Festival from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

This year’s theme is “A Mexican Fiesta.” The festival will include carnival games, authentic Mexican food, a DJ and a performance by Anderson Ballet Folklorico. Proceeds will benefit St. Mary’s church and school.

Bingo benefits Gateway Association

ALEXANDRIA  — The Delta Theta Tau sorority will have its 10th Annual Longaberger Basket and Vera Bradley Bingo Benefit event Wednesday in the Alexandria-Monroe High School cafeteria.

Those attending will have a chance to win a wide variety of Longaberger baskets, pottery accessories and Vera Bradley bags with each game. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with play beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Refreshment will be available for purchase and raffle tickets will be sold for additional prizes.

Tickets are on sale for $12. All proceeds will benefit Gateway Association Inc.  For information on purchasing tickets or any of Gateway Association Inc.’s programs, call 649-1900.



Eagles Lodge to host breakfast Saturday

ANDERSON — The Anderson Eagles Lodge 174, 1315 Meridian St., will host a breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $6 for biscuits and sausage gravy, pancakes and fried potatoes. Plans are to hold a breakfast the second Saturday of each month. The event is open to the public.

  • Jim Bailey Jim Bailey: Jim Carter made football a respectable sport at AHS

    When I first came to Anderson in 1951, Jim Carter had been named head football coach at Anderson High School. At that time, football at AHS was little more than an activity to get out of the way to make room for basketball season. The Indians were known to play two games in the same week to shorten the season.
