Colts cut Ugoh, add Reitz

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts have placed offensive tackle Tony Ugoh on the waived/injured list. Ugoh has been sidelined since suffering a toe injury against Green Bay in the team’s next-to-last preseason game Aug. 26.

Ugoh was a second-round pick by the Colts in 2006. The former Arkansas standout struggled with consistency and injuries over the past four seasons. He started 27 of the 37 games that he played in for Indianapolis, primarily as a left offensive tackle.

The 6-foot-5, 301-pound offensive lineman replaced former offensive tackle Tarik Glenn in the Colts’ starting lineup. Glenn unexpectedly retired after Super Bowl XLI. Indianapolis had hoped to bring Ugoh around slowly, developing him as a future replacement for the Pro Bowl performer.

Indianapolis moved quickly to replace Ugoh on the roster, adding offensive tackle Joe Reitz. Reitz (6-7, 320) is a Fishers native who played for Hamilton Southeastern and at Western Michigan. He had initially signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2008 and spent most of the past two seasons with the Ravens. He was signed by Miami on Sunday and waived Tuesday.
