AU women fall to HCAC leaders

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Anderson University women’s basketball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Franklin College 68-43 on Saturday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium on Senior Day.

Hannah Wickard and Amy Wuestefeld led the Ravens with 12 points and three rebounds each. Wickard hit 5-of-8 field goals in her final home game and Wuestefeld was 4-of-11 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

Senior Kate Barwick added eight points and eight rebounds and Jenna Wittenberg chipped in with four points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

AU shot 38 percent from the field, including 10-of-11 free throws, compared to 50 percent shooting for Franklin, including 11-of-18 from behind the arc.

Franklin had a 29-28 advantage on the boards, including 9-7 on the offensive glass. The Grizzlies also had the edge in points in the paint (32-20), assists (16-9), turnovers (14-24), points off turnovers (31-10), second chance points (10-4) and steals (12-7).

AU (8-15, 5-11 HCAC) hosts Manchester on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
