I have never been much of a football fan.
Not that I don’t get any enjoyment from watching it or attending in person, but normally there are other TV sporting events that I enjoy more.
The Indianapolis Colts, on the other hand, have been a passion from the time they arrived in Indy and then located here for their summer training camp. That is still the case. If I have to miss the game for some reason, it is always caught on the DVR and watched, hopefully, before the final result is known.
Last Sunday I was home and in the mood for something non-interactive after a very busy Saturday evening at the office.
In truth, I was feeling like a football game would hit the spot, but the Colts weren’t scheduled to play until later that night.
Neither of the scheduled games appealed to me too much.
But I had heard about a new NFL channel that was being offered by Comcast so I thought I’d check it out. It is NFL Red Zone.
The concept is ambitious. The network promises to show every touchdown from the collection of 1 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. games, either live or on tape delay. But actually the station offers much more.
Whenever a team is threatening to score or when a critical juncture in the game is reached, a live feed from that game is shown.
If there are two such instances happening at the same time, Red Zone uses a split screen with one game on the top and one on the bottom.
It turned out to be an entertaining and informative way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I would highly recommend that NFL fans, especially Colt fans, try it out this week since Indianapolis has a bye week.
Of course there is a little matter of a painting job on the front porch that I have been told may take up a good portion of my Sunday, so I might miss it.

Congrats of a huge variety go to Colin Proctor and Morgan Nadaline for being named Indiana Golf Association Players of the Year. Both are great representatives of this city and county.
They will be presented with their awards at the IGA Hall of Fame banquet on Nov. 20 in Indianapolis. Look for more on these two in the days leading up to that event.
