VERNON, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana teenager has been sentenced to 124 years in prison for the murders of a Jennings County couple and his role in an uprising at the county's jail.
Eighteen-year-old Ryan Renfroe was sentenced Wednesday to 118 years for the September killings of 69-year-old Gregg Gough and his 66-year-old wheelchair-bound wife, Marguerite.
Police say Renfroe killed the couple in their rural home and stole and crashed their car.
Renfroe was also sentenced to six years in prison for his part in an October uprising at the Jennings County Jail during which three jail officers were injured. Police say three teen inmates tried to escape, taking one officer hostage and stabbing him several times.
