5:34 p.m. Woman dies in car, buggy crash

LaGRANGE, Ind. — State Police say a northern Indiana woman died when a horse-drawn buggy collided nearly head-on with a car.

Thirty-six-year-old Joanna Miller of rural LaGrange died Friday night from head trauma after she and her husband, Wilbur Miller, were thrown from the buggy in the crash.

Wilbur Miller, who was driving the buggy, was taken to Parkview Hospital in LaGrange with neck and back injuries.

State Police say the crash happened on the southeast side of LaGrange about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne. They say a 2005 Dodge Magnum had stopped and was turning east onto U.S. 20 from a city street when it struck the buggy nearly head on. The car’s driver was not injured.
