Limits in health plan reached for childless adults

INDIANAPOLIS — Childless adults wanting health insurance through the state’s Healthy Indiana Plan will now be put on a waiting list.

The state has enrolled 34,000 childless adults, the limit the federal government allows Indiana for the program. There are about 49,000 Indiana residents enrolled in the program now, and the state believes it can afford to enroll up to 130,000 people this year.

Enrollment remains available for parents and other caretaker relatives living with dependent children.

Family and Social Services Administration Secretary Anne Murphy says it’s regrettable the program could not enroll more childless adults at this time.
