Indiana House panel schedules December hearings

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana lawmakers have scheduled December meetings so they can work on proposals before the legislative session begins Jan. 5.

The House Ways and Means Committee will meet Dec. 7 to discuss a bill that would limit annual increases in assessed property values and a resolution that could move the state closer to having property tax limits in its constitution.

The committee will meet Dec. 9 about a bill to require public works projects to hire mostly Indiana residents. The panel will meet Dec. 14 to discuss a bill restricting the privatization of state social services.

Other committee hearings in December will tackle lobbying ethics and unemployment insurance taxes, but dates for those meetings have not yet been announced.
