Woman, brother plead guilty in attack

LaPORTE, Ind. — A northern Indiana woman and her brother have acknowledged their roles in abducting and beating the woman's ex-boyfriend and leaving him tied up in a wooded area.

Nineteen-year-old Dorothy Riegle and her brother, Michael Riegle, pleaded guilty Friday to criminal confinement for the September attack on 17-year-old George Summerfield III.

A LaPorte County judge took their plea agreements under advisement.

The Riegles' older brother, 23-year-old Michael Riegle, has not reached a plea agreement.

Dorothy Riegle said during Friday's hearing that it was her idea to have her two brothers inflict the type of pain on Summerfield that she said he had caused her.

On Sept. 27, she picked up Summerfield and then stopped to pick up her brothers. They allegedly handcuffed and blindfolded Summerfield, beat him and left him in a wooded area.
