INDIANAPOLIS — The mother of Indiana AIDS victim Ryan White says Michael Jackson stayed in touch with her even years after Ryan’s 1990 death.
Jackson befriended Ryan as the teenager’s battle with the disease engrossed the nation in the 1980s and then attended his funeral in Indianapolis.
Jeanne White-Ginder says she and Ryan often stayed at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch and that she and her family later visited Jackson several times.
She told WISH-TV of Indianapolis that most people don’t know about moments such as when Jackson called her a couple of years ago on Mother’s Day to say he had been thinking of her.
Jackson’s memorial on Tuesday included a performance of “Gone Too Soon,” which Jackson recorded in Ryan’s memory.
