INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities in Indianapolis say a bug found in a deputy police chief's office was left by one of his predecessors.
Police Chief Paul Ciesielski said Saturday the audio and video recording device was "inoperable" and of "poor quality." He says the device was found "in pieces."
He says investigators determined the bug had been inadvertently left by someone who formerly used the same desk.
Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police President William Owensby told The Indianapolis Star the audio and video recording devices were found in Deputy Chief William Benjamin's office late Thursday or early Friday.
Ciesielski says the investigation is continuing.
